Q:
Will Rural/Metro pay for my training?
A: Yes! You are required to obtain your initial EMT
certification. Rural/Metro will pay for continuing medical education classes,
recertifications, AHA
cards, and Paramedic
training.
Q:
What is "pre-hire skills"?
A: Pre-hire skills is the second step in the hiring process. It is an interview,
so please come dressed accordingly. You will be lifting and moving, so keep
that in mind when selecting your clothing and footwear.
You will be asked to demonstrate your practical skills, following the NYS skills sheets as evaluation guidelines. Our skills are scenario-based, where you will need to determine the proper course of treatment and interventions following appropriate protocols, based upon how the patient presents him/herself. Skills will include, but not be limited to, KED, traction splint, longboard, bleeding, splinting, AED/CPR, lifting, and patient assessment.
| Please Note: We will be using the Hare Traction Device for traction splinting. | ![]() |
